Hotel Punta Leona is set within an 300 hectare private ecological reserve that houses two beaches: Playa Mantas and Playa Blanca. The reserve is home to scarlet macaws, white-faced monkeys, and iguanas, visible from the trails and dining areas. Guests access the beaches and facilities via free internal shuttles running every 30 minutes, or by walking on roads through the forest.

Hotel Punta Leona has 3 outdoor pools: one near the main hotel, one at Playa Mantas, and a smaller shaded pool at Selvamar. Punta Leona is a 1.5-hour drive from San José and Juan Santamaría International Airport, and 20 minutes from Carara National Park, a key birding location.
